RGIT Australia, situated in Melbourne's CBD, is looking for a highly motivated and dedicated Accountant to work within the Finance and Accounting Department.
This is a full-time position.
The salary range for this role is $70,000 - 80,000 per annum.
This is an in-office role.
We have an exciting opportunity for an organised and professional Accountant to support the organisation. This position is hands-on and will allow you to be exposed to the different functions of the finance department, allowing you to contribute to the success of the organisation through the effective operation of the finance department.
Position responsibilities

Reconcile Bank Accounts
Process payroll and payroll journals
Relieve accounts receivable and accounts payable
Process monthly journals and manage the month end process to ensure that reporting deadlines are adhered to
Update and maintain the balance sheet records.
Prepare monthly BAS reconciliation and file the BAS returns as per ATO requirements
Advise on system and workflow problems
Assisting in the development of budgetary and accounting policies.
Preparing financial statements for presentation to boards of directors, management, shareholders, and regulatory bodies.
Conducting financial investigations, preparing reports, performing audits, and providing advice on matters such as business acquisitions, mergers, capital financing, fraud detection, insolvency, and taxation.
Analyzing operating costs and assessing income and expenditure for organizations.
Ensuring the accuracy of financial reports and verifying compliance with statutory requirements.
Offering financial and taxation advice related to business structures, plans, and operations.
Preparing tax returns for individuals and organizations.
Collaborating with financial institutions and brokers to establish funds management arrangements.
Implementing and maintaining accounting systems, including advising on the selection and use of computer-based accounting solutions.
Managing internal control systems.
Assessing cash flow and evaluating the financial risks of capital investment projects, when necessary.

To be considered for this position, applicants need to have the following:

Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance with a minimum of two years' relevant work experience
High level numeracy and reconciliation skills, with demonstrated high attention to detail and accuracy with figures
Knowledge of relevant Australian Accounting Standards and Australian taxation legislation
Knowledge of financial service processes including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations is preferable
High proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word
Excellent communication skills written and verbal
Prior experience in education industry is preferable
Demonstrated ability to meet month end closing and statutory deadlines is desirable
Technologically competent as per the requirements of the position – able to easily learn and understand how to use new software/programs
