+ 11.5% superannuation About the company Australian Sovereign College (AuSC) is a private Registered Training Provider (RTO) and Commonwealth Register of Institutions & Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) offering courses in the areas of Human Welfare Studies & Services, Food & Hospitality, Business & Management, ELICOS, Building Trades, Automotive Engineering & Technology, Information Technology and Civil Engineering.
With two campuses located in Melbourne and Hobart, AuSC provides comfortable facilities for students, industry current trainers and assessors along with modern equipment and resources.
About the role Having enjoyed solid growth to date, a qualified Accountant is now sought to join our friendly team to manage the company's accounting function including financial reporting, taxation, auditing, budgeting, cost management, planning and advising on statutory compliance and performance requirements.
Key tasks include: Preparing budgets, forecasts and financial statements & reports for presentation to management; Analysing, investigating and reporting on variances between actual and budget/forecast performance of the business; Formulating and implementing budgetary and accounting policies including standardising and documenting financial workflows and processes; Managing cashflow including examining operating costs, income & expenditure for an up-to-date view of company finances in real time; Maintaining internal controls through improved record keeping practices for accurate financial reporting, and providing assurance to management on the accuracy of information in financial reports and compliance with statutory requirements; Conducting audits, analysing data and advising management on financial and taxation related matters on business operations and new projects; Employing strict financial practices by implementing and maintaining tight financial controls; Preparing month-end, quarterly and year-end financial reports for management and statutory bodies; Managing the company's tax compliance including Business Activity Statements (BAS), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) & Good & Services Tax (GST); Maintaining the company's computer-based accounting system and organising upgrades where necessary; Ad hoc reporting & analysis where required.
About the candidate The ideal candidate will hold an accounting degree and 1 – 3 years prior experience as an accountant.
