AEI Insurance Broking Group is an established Insurance Broking organisation specialising in the Transport, Logistic and Commercial sector. Established in 1983, we continue to provide unique and value added professional services to over 20,000 clients. We now have seven offices located on the east coast of Australia and have over 90 staff.
We are part of the Austbrokers Group which operates throughout Australia and New Zealand
and is the fourth largest insurance broking group in Australia.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join our subsidiary Austbrokers
Canberra, which operates out of our Fyshwick office, in the ACT.
The role will suit an ambitious person who has a minimum of 2 years' experience in the
sector. The right candidate will be goal driven and work well in a team environment
Duties and Responsibilities
• Preparing financial statements in accordance with regulatory, accounting and
financial reporting standards and company policies
• Assure accuracy of financial reports and compliance with statutory requirements;
• Keeping records for assets' depreciation;
• Ad hoc reporting for presentation and director review;
• Managing tax strategies and generating tax reports;
• Develop and maintain budget forecasts
• Control and forecast income and expenditure, focusing on cost management;
• Liaising with financial institutions and brokers to establish funds management
arrangements;
• Assist in formulating and implementing budgetary and accounting policies;
• Preparation of quarterly Business Activity Statements;
• Conducting Bank reconciliations;
• Maintaining strong internal control systems;
• Appraise financial risk of capital investment projects;
• Monitoring and managing cash flows and investments;
Required:
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting;
• Over 2 years Accounting Experience;
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft 365 Office, in particular Excel;
• Experience with Attaché Accounting Software;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Attention to detail;
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team;
• Ability to meet deadlines;
Preferred: • Insurance Industry Experience
• General Insurance Broking Knowledge 
• Previous experience with CBS Insurance Broking Software 
• Willingness to undertake CPA qualification
