Job Description About the Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated individual to join the Shire of Broome in the role of Accountant .
Reporting to the Manager Financial Services, the Accountant will assist in the delivery of a comprehensive range of financial services including:
Coordinating the preparation and Council adoption of the Annual Financial Report; Coordinating the external audit process, liaising with Council's contracted audit firm and OAG; Initiating system improvement recommendations arising from audits; Coordinating the preparation, adoption, implementation and review of the Annual Budget; Ensuring data integrity and appropriate management of the financial accounting system to provide accurate and reliable information for decision-making; Supervising the Assistant Accountant.

In addition to a 'can-do attitude', intuitive thinking and problem-solving ability, our ideal candidate will have:
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Financial Management or Commerce.
At least three years' experience at a senior level financial position (experience in local government will be highly regarded).
Demonstrated experience in the delivery of Annual Financial Statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation.
Demonstrated experience in the development of organisation-wide annual budgets across a diverse range of functions.
CPA/CA or local government experience is highly regarded but not essential.
