Caterpillar Financial currently has an opportunity for an experienced senior accountant to join the Finance team in Financial Products Division based in Tullamarine.
This position will be responsible for carrying out activities necessary to provide financial compliance and analysis of business results.
Job Description: Under limited supervision, conduct a wide variety of complex accounting duties and projects.
Assignments and work are generally broad in nature requiring a broad knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
Make recommendations for changes in policies and procedures to correct accounting related problems and processes.
Provide training, guidance and check the work of less experienced accounting staff.
Research and provide guidance on proper classification of transactions.
This role will offer you a wide variety of responsibilities in a friendly and supportive environment.
Further duties may include: Review and analyse monthly financials and reporting to HQ;Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records;Able to carry out complex reconciliations;Be conversant with US GAAP, AASB and NZ GAAP;Preparation of various cashflow and profit centre reports;Preparation of Statutory Accounts based on AASB GAAP and NZ GAAP;Negotiating financial transactions of moderate complexity;Business planning and forecasting;Analysis of actual result versus plan;Compliance with all policies and procedures to a high degree of accuracy;Understands and assist with the established continuous improvement objectives for the department.Skills Required: Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours.Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.Financial Record Keeping: Knowledge of financial record keeping processes, methods, and tools; ability to maintain accurate and thorough records of financial transactions.To be successful in this role you will need to: Be highly analytical and demonstrate an organised approach to your work;Have a proven ability to work under pressure;Have excellent written and oral communication skills;Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with multiple business units, internal and external stakeholders;Strong Excel and MS Access skills;Strong process improvement skills;Finance company or Banking experience are preferable.Qualifications & experience: A finance / business / accounting degree or equivalent experience and CPA or CA qualifications;6+ years experience in accountant role.Posting Dates: January 9, 2025 - January 15, 2025
