About The Position:
Caterpillar Financial currently has an opportunity for an entry-level Accountant to join the Finance team, located in Tullamarine.
In this role you will be responsible for the daily duties surrounding Accounts Payable, including arranging daily payments for our ANZ & Mining teams and related reporting and reconciliation.
You will be required to work closely with other teams to ensure daily deadlines are met.
Other duties may include but are not limited to month end duties including clearing and communicating contract related errors; conducting and/or assisting in the documentation of accounting projects; preparing or assisting in the preparation of accounting reports and government surveys.
Other ad hoc duties as required.
This role will offer you a wide variety of responsibilities in a friendly and supportive environment.
The role is in a high-paced environment and you will be required to work under pressure periodically in order to meet cut-off times.
The candidate must be good at prioritising their workload in order to meet deadlines.
In this role, you will assist Senior accountants to perform accounting duties of an entry-level nature.
Further duties will include:
Performs accounting duties of a moderately complex and varied nature under supervision.
Performs daily, weekly and monthly journals and reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts.
Back up for Accounts receivable duties.
Completing various government and industry surveys under supervision.
Applies knowledge of basic accounting methods and procedures to projects and day-to-day activities.
May participate in accounting system developments, testing and implementation.
Understands and assist with the established continuous improvement objectives for the department (LEAN).

Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
Financial Record Keeping: Knowledge of financial record keeping processes, methods, and tools; ability to maintain accurate and thorough records of financial transactions.
To be successful in this role you will also need to:
Understand compliance issues around accounts payable processes.
Be self-motivated and capable of handling multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment and be able to prioritise workloads.
Show strong initiative, leadership and accountability.
Possess strong communication and organisational skills.
Work collaboratively within the finance team and various inter-departments.
Have the ability to create and maintain Excel spreadsheets including data manipulation and Word documents.
Qualifications:
Accounting degree with relevant work experience; Graduates welcome.
