New England Conservatorium of Music – Armidale NSW
An exciting opportunity exists to provide support to the New England Conservatorium of Music (NECOM), with the creation and maintenance of accurate records of accounting transactions. The successful candidate will have proven experience in an accountant/bookkeeping function.
The New England Conservatorium of Music NECOM was established in 2004 and has grown exponentially since then to provide an outstanding and diverse range of music education and performance programs in the Armidale and broader New England region.
NECOM is a highly respected cultural institution, founded on the belief that high-quality music education and music performance embedded in a regional community gives it unique cohesion, economic, and social capacity.
A significant contributor to the identity of Armidale and the New England, the Conservatorium delivers 29,000 hours of classroom, ensemble and instrumental programs each year through a unique "conservatorium without walls" model connecting 8500 students across the Northern Tablelands. NECOM also functions as a local concert presenter, with an annual program of 100 events featuring visiting and local artists for audiences in excess of 19,000 – a significant achievement for a regional centre.
The role will be responsible for NECOM's internal accounting and, in conjunction with the CFO, drives the day-to-day management of the organisation's finance services.
This role is 0.8FTE per week based in Armidale at the NECOM campus. This role requires flexible work hours from time to time.
Key responsibilities of the role include: Work to accurately generate all financial matters related to enrolmentsCreate and issue invoices to parents/studentsGenerate fee notices, in a timely mannerUndertake and process payroll for full-time, part-time, casual payroll, using XeroDeliver payments for contractors, upon provision of invoicesProcess bank reconciliationProcess cash, credit card, direct debit paymentsReconcile daily banking, in accordance with NECOM's requirementsAssist the CFO to provide accurate and timely reporting to the NECOM BoardAssist with the DoE Multi-Year Funding application, including acquittals and annual outcome reportingPrepare files and liaise with an external auditorMinimum Requirements: Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, including tax concepts and proceduresCertificate in accounting/bookkeeping (or similar)Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and OutlookCompetency with Practice Management and Commercial Accounting Software, for example Xero, MYOB, QuickBooksThe role will be offered as a 0.8FTE position.
