About the Foundation
The Austin Medical Research Foundation (AMRF) is an independent not-for-profit company that was established in 1970 as a joint project between the Austin Hospital and the University of Melbourne. The Foundation is located at the Austin Hospital campus of Austin Health. An independent Board governs the Foundation, and the day-to-day operations are managed by the Company Secretary & Manager and the Accountant/Administrative Assistant. AMRF supports various hospital departments, including three University of Melbourne departments and four independent research institutes.
About the role
Due to the resignation of the current Accountant/Administrative Assistant, AMRF is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, highly motivated and experienced replacement.
The Accountant/Administrative Assistant is responsible for the maintenance of the Foundation's accounting records and preparation of financial information, ensuring all financial and legislative reporting requirements are met. The position is a critical role, being a vital part of the small office team, working to ensure the smooth operation of the Foundation.

As the Accountant/Administrative Assistant, your responsibilities will include: Maintaining the Foundation's accounting records in accordance with Accounting, legislative and other not-for-profit organisation requirements (e.g. ACNC), accurately and in a timely manner. Preparing financial and other reports for the Board and Committees. Undertaking the day-to-day financial running of the Foundation, including: Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and liaison with managers and researchers. Banking, cash flow and liquidity management, ensuring all financial obligations are met efficiently. Tax affair maintenance. Maintaining structures for assisting research Principal Investigators and other project personnel to develop budgets, monitor expenditure and acquit projects on a timely basis. Liaising closely with the Foundation's external Investment Advisers. Providing support to the Company Secretary, Investment Committee and the Board of the Foundation, and perform other duties as required. About you
You will be someone who has financial acumen and dedication to help us manage our financial records with accuracy and integrity.
You'll further have:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in not-for-profit organisations, coupled with relevant Accounting or Finance qualifications: CA/CPA or near completion. Strong credibility and ability to work honestly, independently, with initiative, sound judgement and appropriate understanding of accountability. Proficiency in the use of MYOB and Excel, and sound understanding of information technology and experience in Power BI. Flexibility to work varying hours to cater for the peaks and troughs of the work requirements. Our benefits
