Job Description The finance team is crucial for maintaining financial health and stability.
This team comprises accounts payable, tax, payroll, and investor relations.
Together, they manage financial planning, transactions, compliance, and investor communications, ensuring the organisation operates efficiently and meets its strategic goals.
The role of the Accountant is part of the Local Record to Report team.
This position includes liaising with offshore shared Service Centre Teams covering basic accounting and accounts payable/receivable responsibilities, as well as group tax and reporting teams.
Working within a small, collaborative local finance team, this role also provides financial, administrative, and clerical support to the organization.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract based at our Melbourne office in the CBD, with a hybrid working model.
For this reason, we are currently only considering applications from candidates based in Melbourne.
Responsibilities Payroll: Manage payroll and payroll-related tasks including payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG, single-touch payroll reports and payroll accruals; Accounts Payable: Supporting other Local Teams with payment queries and liaising with offshore Procure to Pay Team to set up supplier payments ensure timely and accurate financial reporting; Accounts Reconciliations: Assisting offshore primary ledgers team to perform monthly accounts reconciliation and investigating all outstanding items and discrepancies; Month-end and Year-end Reports: Assist during the end-of-month accounting process and provide support during the year-end audit; Assist the Finance team with ad-hoc tasks, projects, and reporting including R&D claims, work cover calculations, cashflow forecasts, and Fixed Assets reporting; Assist the preparation and submission of FBT returns and TPAR lodgements to ensure compliance and accuracy; Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience in processing payroll in a previous role.
Experience with processing payments is preferred.
Highly organised, structured, and proactive, with exceptional attention to detail.
A self-starter who thrives in a small, cross-functional finance team.
Strong ability to collaborate with regional teams to achieve shared financial management goals.
Effective and empathetic communicator, skilled in maintaining stakeholder relationships.
Discreet and trustworthy when handling confidential financial information.
