Join a VIC big build project – The M80 Ring Road.
The Project
The M80 Ring Road Alliance (comprising ACCIONA, MACA, and AECOM) has been selected to design and construct the M80 Ring Road Completion.
The project will deliver a major upgrade of the M80 Ring Road between the M80-Plenty Road interchange and the North East Link tunnel entrance at Watsonia, providing a seamless connection to North East Link. Works include 2km of new freeway upgrade, 3km of new freeway, separation of local roads from the freeway, bulk earthworks, retaining walls, bridge structures, rail interface works, intelligent transport systems, urban design and landscaping. This diverse and challenging project will be completed in 2028.
Key accountabilities for the position
Reporting to the Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for implementing Environment Policy, Procedures and Legislative Requirements on site. Conduct regular environmental and sustainability inspections and contribute to client and stakeholder inspections and audits. Assist with internal and external audits. Develop and maintain key relationships with other project functions. Conduct environmental monitoring, as required including noise, vibration, water and air quality. Monitor environmental consultants during site works including contaminated land, ecologists and fauna handlers. Collect and maintain environmental reports and monitoring data. Develop and deliver environmental training, toolboxes and inductions. Plan for upcoming night works including noise modelling and analysis of noise monitoring results. Investigate and monitor following community environmental complaints. Develop and update environmental documentation including EMP, environmental procedures, worksite environmental management plans and environmental control plans. Work with site teams following an environmental incident and conduct incident reporting. Assist with managing systems to support project delivery to obtain and maintain compliance with relevant state and commonwealth environmental approvals. Supervise junior environmental staff. Required Skills and Competencies
Ideally, you will have a degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Equivalent. Experience in management of potential environmental hazards & risks on site (i.e., noise, water, air, heritage sites, contaminated soil, flora/fauna). Advanced communication skills and experience liaising, advising & coordinating with construction teams on site. Working knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations and best practice publications.
