APS 6 - Accessibility and Inclusion Officer Canberra – Adelaide – Brisbane – Darwin - Hobart – Melbourne – Perth - SydneyPosition Description:Australia's Disability Strategy 2021-2031 (the Strategy) provides a national framework against which all levels of government have agreed to focus on improving outcomes for people with disability over the next decade. In our commitment to the guiding principles, the Department is working across its streams to increase employment opportunities of people with disability.The Accessibility and Inclusion Officer will be responsible for promoting awareness and implementing strategies to cultivate a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible work environment for employees with disability within the Department. This role will promote and maintain best practice across the Department to attract and retain employees with disability.You will play a crucial role in providing support for employees with disability by working collaboratively with existing teams to educate them on inclusive practices and facilitate the seamless integration of new team members with disabilities. Additionally, the role will contribute to the creation of evidence-based policies and programs that promote and embed equal participation for individuals with disabilities.Please review job pack for full position description.Eligibility / Additional Requirements:To be eligible for employment with Department of Social Services (the department), you must be an Australian citizen. An applicant's suitability for employment with the Department will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This will include an identity and criminal history background check.Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance:The suitable applicant must also obtain and maintain a security clearance conducted by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).Applicants also must be able to establish their background as checkable to be considered eligible for a security clearance. Any gaps or periods of time spent overseas for 12 or more months (cumulative) that cannot be verified by an Australian referee is deemed uncheckable, rendering the applicant ineligible for a security clearance. Background history must cover 5 / 10 years (Baseline / Negative Vet 1 or Negative Vet 2) of employment, education, residential, criminal history and anything else specified by the AGSVA.
