The role of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advanced Health Worker – Child & Family Health is to deliver high-level cultural advice and professional and culturally specific support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children accessing the child & family health and development services, including their family, carers, and social/cultural support networks.
The aim of the role is to achieve improved health and developmental outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children accessing child & family health and child development services, as per the objectives of the West Moreton Health First Nations Health Equity Strategy 2022 – 2025.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following: High level interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills and ability to develop effective partnerships within the Health Service and external stakeholders.Cultural lived experience and understanding of the cultural factors and histories that affect the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.The ability to provide effective cultural support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children & families accessing community child & family health and child development services.Ability to support multidisciplinary teams to improve their understanding of the Social, Emotional and Well-Being needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.The appropriate clinical skills for the delivery of evidence-based health assessments, health promotion, education and illness prevention activities and primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families.Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act of 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.About West Moreton Health West Moreton Health is one of the most rapidly evolving health services in the south east corner, with a community growth expected to almost double to more than 588,000 by 2036.
