You will be a strong communicator with a commitment to delivering excellent customer and culturally safe services to Aboriginal people. You have demonstrated experience in all aspects of social housing tenancy management. You will understand the challenges faced by people needing housing assistance and have a good knowledge of local supports. You will thrive in a start-up environment with a significant workload, be strongly committed to working as a member of a team while being self-motivated and able to work independently. Applying your excellent organisational skills is a strong feature of your approach to work. You easily adapt to new contexts and have a strong commitment to social justice principles.Key areas of responsibility include:Tenancy management including tenancy sign-upsConduct regular inspections of rental properties including periodic, ingoing, and outgoing inspectionsArrears management including supporting and referring tenants to other community organisations to assist them in reducing their debtManaging anti-social behaviour and other breach of tenancy issues (other than rental and non-rental arrears)Work collaboratively with tenants facing financial challenges, offering support and implementing feasible payment plans to ensure sustainable tenancies.Building and maintaining relationships with key support providers and making referrals to other services where appropriateRepresenting Birribee Housing at the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) as requiredEncourage tenant participation in community events and initiatives, fostering a sense of belonging and community engagement.Who we are looking for:The ideal candidate will have:Aboriginality – your employer considers Aboriginality a genuine occupational qualification for the role in accordance with the Anti-Discrimination Act (s.14(d))Demonstrated experience and/or understanding of the social housing sector.Experience in social housing tenancy management with sound understanding of the NSW Residential Tenancies Act, 2010Demonstrated understanding of effective arrears management practicesGood negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to liaise with several stakeholders.Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with identified support agencies and community services.Empathy towards the challenges faced by people needing housing assistance.Knowledge and understanding of the cultural practices, values and issues that currently affect Aboriginal peoples in NSWDemonstrated ability to work under pressure and plan workloads effectively.You will also need:A valid National Police Check (less than six (6) months old)A current driver's licence valid in the state of NSWRemuneration:As a guide the salary for this role will be as per the SCHADS award Level 3We actively encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds to apply, as we are committed to fostering an inclusive and representative environment where everyone's unique perspectives contribute to our collective success.
