Aboriginal Student Support Officer
3 – 4 days a weekSalary range $33.42 - $36.29 per hourBairnsdaleSupportive and inclusive communityOur ClientFor over 95 years our client has played a crucial role in supporting Gippsland communities.
Their commitment extends beyond traditional educational programs.
They actively participate in a variety of social initiatives that contribute to the social and cultural development of the Gippsland region. The RoleAs the Aboriginal Student support officer, you will be the first point of for Aboriginal students.
You will provide welfare monitoring and intervention support to assist the students to succeed.
Through collaborative engagement with teachers and managers you will deliver support strategies to improve student retention and success.


To be successful in this role you will have lived experienceand or a deep understanding, appreciation and demonstrated experience in working with the koori community.
Responsibilities include but not limited to;Support Aboriginal students to begin and continue their chosen studiesIdentify the students cultural and study requirementsMaintain case and file notes with accuracy in a timely mannerMonitor the student's engagement and success, completing reviews monthlyTake part in planning, development and presentation of programsProvide in class support to the students and teaching staffThe Benefits

Demonstrated experience and extensive knowledge of Aboriginal Culture and historyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to build collaborative relationshipsHigh Level Microsoft office skills and the ability to learn new programsBe a proactive and positive team member, advocating for the studentsCan work well under pressure and time manage effectivelyWorking with children, Police Check, Current Drivers LicenceWe strongly recommendpeople who identify as Aboriginal or Torresstrait islander to apply.
