The Opportunity It is a very exciting time at The Kids Research Institute Australia as we continue to evolve from what began in the 1980's as a vision to create a world-class child health research hub.
We have recently changed our name from the Telethon Kids Institute, but we continue to achieve our vision of happy, healthy kids!
The Ear Health team is on a mission – a mission that sounds like something straight out of a superhero movie: to ensure that all children start primary school with good hearing!
Our vision is clear: healthy ears for every little one, with a special focus on Aboriginal children.
An integral linkage for our team is the Aboriginal Community Advisory Group which guides the team in working in a culturally safe manner and provides direction to ensure the program is relevant and appropriate for their communities.
In this exciting new role, you will collaborate with the Head of Ear Health and Aboriginal Co-Director of the Djaalinj Waakinj Centre for Ear and Hearing Health to lead, manage, analyse, write up and translate the research aspects of the projects of the Djaalinj Waakinj team.
You will have the opportunity to help drive a wide range of activities, including, but not limited to:
Operationalise the Centre's research strategy into processes and procedures that are culturally secure.Provide a cultural lens to the project team and provide feedback and input to support the team to ensure that community engagement and consultation is culturally secure.Ensure data quality and data integrity, with quality assurance processes and support and promote the translation of research findings into practice, policy and program development.Report and share evaluation and research results with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and stakeholders we work with using relevant and appropriate mediums and formats.Support the development of future research grants to further the Ear Health team's objectives.This role will be based primarily in Cockburn and will be offered on a 0.6 part-time ongoing basis.
About You Completion or significant progress towards completion of a postgraduate degree with a significant research component (e.g.
MSc, MPhil / PhD) in a relevant field; or other relevant work experience in research.

Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and capacity to work with Aboriginal communities to understand and respond to their needs.Ability to employ critical reflection and strategic thinking in working with multiple stakeholders.Demonstrated significant experience in Aboriginal health and wellbeing research.Demonstrated experience in managing data and quantitative or qualitative data analysis.Highly developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to adapt to a wide range of audiences.Strong organisational skills, including demonstrated ability to set goals, develop priorities and meet deadlines.We are driving inclusion and diversity as part of the way we work and embrace the diverse career and life experiences of our staff.
