A little about the role: In this exciting role, you will work with Perth metropolitan schools to provide awareness and recognition of cultural practices around water, informing evolution of today's practices and innovations to school students. You'll teach students while delivering high quality, culturally relevant educational incursions teaching about Water in Aboriginal Culture to metropolitan school aged students and community members.
Here are some of the tasks you will undertake: Deliver incursions about Water in Aboriginal Culture to students from Pre-Primary to Year 12 by presenting to class sizes ranging from 20 to 60 students in WA metropolitan schools Coordinate school bookings by co-managing a shared inbox, communicating with schools and recording incursion data in addition to administrative responsibilities as part of the Partnerships and Education Team Develop Water in Aboriginal Culture curriculum materials, publications and incursion materials by establishing clear outcomes, appropriate content and delivery methods that reflect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander curriculum outcomes and reinforce Waterwise Schools' objectives Work collaboratively with your Team Lead to design and develop content related to WA Curriculum to deliver to WA metropolitan school students Share cultural knowledge related to Aboriginal needs and cultural protocols, and how they impact Aboriginal engagements with internal and external stakeholders Be part of a friendly and supportive Partnerships and Education team by engaging in school and community education through school incursions, community events such as Perth Royal Show and Kings Park Festival for example Some key skills and experiences we are looking for: This position relates to Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984, where Aboriginality is considered a genuine occupational qualification for this position Experience teaching school aged students and/or adults with diverse cultural groups Highly regarded – experience with teaching culture to children and/or adults in a range of settings Possession of / or willing to obtain a Working with Children Clearance from the Western Australian Department of Communities Knowledge of Aboriginal communities and cultures Relevant experience planning and resourcing Aboriginal educational programs to deliver to a wide range of students and community members Relevant experience engaging community stakeholders to evaluate and coordinate cultural educational programs and activities Energetic with a passion to share cultural knowledge Apply:  If you are interested in the above opportunity, please submit a covering letter and resume that best demonstrates your ability to meet the requirements of the role.
