Job description: Develop skills and knowledge in the management of Aboriginal heritage management and interpretation whilst undertaking tasks associated with the conservation and sustainable use of natural and cultural resources.
About the role Working as an Aboriginal Working on Country (WOC) Ranger you will help promote sustainable and renewable practices for Aboriginal heritage and education in Tasmania. The Aboriginal Ranger will provide information and advice that will assist Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) with the preparation of plans and identify work to be completed. You will represent PWS on country and provide information, advice and assistance to visitors, and work to make areas safe for public access. You will also help with PWS emergency responses and fire operations by assisting with fuel management and wildfire control.
The Aboriginal Ranger will be able to work from one of our offices located in either Hobart, Launceston or Ulverstone.

Hours per fortnight 76.0 hours per fortnight (minimum 60.8 hours, by negotiation).
Essential requirements Aboriginality. The Head of the State Service has determined that this is an Aboriginal identified position and that the person nominated for this position is to meet the Tasmanian Government's eligibility requirements in accordance with Employment Direction No. 10 - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment in the State Service before taking up the appointment, promotion, or transfer. Desirable requirements A current motor vehicle driver's licence, or significant progress to obtaining a current motor vehicle driver's licence. How to apply Review the Statement of Duties.
