Alice Springs, Alice Springs & Central Australia NT Administrative Officer 6 (Remuneration Package $113,538 - $126,390) Park Development and Strategic Projects Fixed vacancy in Alice Springs for 12 months Are you passionate about Aboriginal engagement and development and want to contribute to protected area management in the NT at the same time? As the Aboriginal Partnerships Officer, Northern Territory Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security, your primary objective is to build relationships and engage with Department staff, Aboriginal people, and partner agencies in order to improve outcomes for and with Aboriginal people, including joint management partners for the NT Governments parks estate.
You will be part of a Territory-wide team within the Parks and Wildlife division.
This is a 12 month position based in Alice Springs.
Key Responsibilities: Focus on joint management and provide support to division staff.
Work closely with partner agencies and champion cross-cultural governance for committees and boards.
Arrange training and capacity building processes.
Manage the flexible employment program, ensuring accountability.
Assist Aboriginal employees with career development pathways.
Represent the Division and the Department in key Government programs related to Aboriginal engagement, employment, and economic development.
Minimum Requirements: To be successful, you need experience working in a cross-cultural environment with people of different cultures, including Indigenous people.
Understanding of park joint management programs and the aspirations of Indigenous people is required, as well as understanding of cross-cultural governance principles.
Communication skills, including the ability to communicate with people of all levels and those with English as a second language, are essential.
Problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to work both autonomously and within a team are also necessary.
A Class C driver's licence is required, as is the capacity and willingness to travel independently to regional and remote areas.
An understanding of the agency's economic, political, cultural, and social environment would be well received.
We are offering a competitive salary with up to 6 weeks paid annual leave, three weeks personal leave, 17% annual leave loading, and an opportunity to develop a career in the NT Public Sector.
