Our Story So FarRichmond Wellbeing has a commitment to advocating for Aboriginal people and working with the guidance of our Aboriginal Elders, we aim to provide culturally safe services for our community.
As part of our strategic plan of 2024 - 2028, we have launched Working Together, Walking Together, Making Change together. We worked alongside Dr Michael Wright to create 7 excellence criteria which is Relationships, Reciprocity, Accountability and Responsibility, Cultural Leadership, Aboriginal Governance, Cultural Security, and Respect and Integrity which guides our practice for delivering best quality, culturally safe mental health services.
In 2023, we created an Aboriginal Cultural Lead role to support the organisation working as one to bring together Wadjela ways and Aboriginal Ways of Working to create a culturally safe working environment.
Koomba Moort (Big Family) is a Richmond Wellbeing community of practice which welcomes all Richmond Wellbeing staff to come together to learn about the Aboriginal culture and history.
Job DescriptionAbout the RoleThe role includes outreach support to individuals, youth, and families residing in the Perth Metropolitan area to improve their social and emotional wellbeing. This will include working with allied health services, social supports, and other agencies.
Other responsibilities include:
Support individuals and families by acknowledging the importance of our culture, country, language, and kinship.Mental Health practice and counselling in a culturally safe way.Refer to other services or community groups for wrap-around support for clients.Aboriginality is a genuine requirement for this position as defined under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984. This role is 45 hours a fortnight. The successful applicant will be required to travel across the Perth metropolitan area. Desired Skills and ExperienceAbout YouTo be considered for this role, you will need:
Qualifications Cert IV or above qualifications in Mental Health or at least two years of experience working in the Human Services sector.Experience Broad understanding of supporting Our Mob experiencing mental health challenges.
