About the role The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician has an important role in the care, welfare, and assistance of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people primarily.
The Clinician will work within the adult acute services team to ensure that Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander consumers and their families receive a respectful and culturally responsive service.
The Clinician will provide clinical support and interventions to the consumer and the family, assisting with accessing other services relevant to their needs.
They will assist in the planning and implementation of admission, treatment, case management, referral, discharge, and follow-up for Aboriginal people utilizing mental health services.
This is a non-clinical role in the clinical environment.
The Clinician will also undertake cultural education and development for all staff and students.
You will be based at Mental Health Drug & Alcohol Services (MHDA) – Bloomfield Campus adult acute services.
Amaroo is a 20-bed acute unit for short to medium-term treatment and recovery for people experiencing mental health illnesses, working within a framework of human-centred care that includes recovery-oriented practices and trauma-informed care.
Adult Acute is a 16-bed acute unit for treatment and recovery for people with mental illness, also working within a framework of human-centred care.
Mental Health Intensive Care Unit (MHICU) is an 8-bed unit providing multidisciplinary assessment, primarily for adults requiring involuntary short-term inpatient treatment during an acute phase of mental illness or disorder.
