The Wajarri Yamaji native title determination is one of the largest in Western Australia.WYAC has entered into an Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) with the CSIRO and Commonwealth Government in respect of the Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO), an international effort to build the world's largest radio telescope on Wajarri Yamaji country.The Wajarri Yamaji People comprise four land groups – Minangu, Burringurrah/Milly Milly, Byro, and Ngoonooru.
Each land group is represented by a committee of Traditional Owners, called the Land Committees.WYAC works in collaboration with the Trustee, Winja Wajarri Barna Limited and Wajarri Enterprises Limited, which is the business arm of the group, to deliver positive social, economic, educational, and cultural outcomes for Wajarri Yamaji people.The ILUA is an important relationship between the Wajarri Yamaji People and the SKAO partners, which this role is intended to foster.The RoleThe Aboriginal Liaison Officer (ALO) role focuses largely on indigenous services and administrative work, identifying role opportunities and working with our clients.
The role will require strong communication, governance, and organization skills.In line with specific role requirements under the ILUA at Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, preference will be given to suitable Minangu Wajarri people.

The position is open to all applicants, although they are ideally seeking a male candidate for the role to join our team in our Geraldton office, offering an attractive salary with Salary Sacrifice opportunities.ResponsibilitiesExperience in a similar role or community engagement.Experience in identification of cadetships, apprenticeships, trainee positions, and training opportunities.Attend liaison committee meetings and, where appropriate, assist with the implementation of decisions made by the committee.Assist with the development and delivery of cultural awareness training programs.Experience in stakeholder management.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.Proficient in the use of internet technology (Teams and Zoom), MS Office suite applications.Must hold a current Western Australian 'C' Class driver's license.Able to provide or the ability to obtain a Current Police Check.Able to provide a current Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain.Overnight/multisite stays away for work will be required to fulfill the requirements of this role.Previous experience in communications or stakeholder engagement role.Completed studies in Community Services or willing to obtain.Pursuant to Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984, the occupant of this position must be of Aboriginal descent.
