This is a Recruitment Pool Full-Time, Fixed Term appointment with the possibility of extension(s).

Position Profile: We are seeking an Aboriginal Liaison Officer to join the Child and Adolescent Community Health Service with our Aboriginal Health Team.

The successful candidate will liaise and negotiate with and on behalf of the Aboriginal Community to promote, develop, plan and implement culturally appropriate health care which is consistent with a primary health care philosophy.

Reporting to the Manager of Aboriginal Health, your responsibilities will include:

Promoting effective communication between client/family/community and members of the Child & Adolescent Health Service Community Health, Aboriginal Health Team and other organisations as necessary. Acting as a resource or cultural advocate when required or assisting members of the Aboriginal Community to advocate on their own behalf through assisting in communication, voicing the patient/family's cultural and social needs in multi-disciplinary meetings and family meetings as necessary. Providing cultural and social support for patients and families. About Directorate: Community Health provides health and developmental assessments, early intervention and health promotion services for children and young people.

These services are provided in the community across the Perth metropolitan area at community health centres, in schools, home visits and through telehealth appointments.
Services focus on child health, growth and development, immunisation and supporting families.

The Aboriginal Health Team provides culturally appropriate and secure services to the Aboriginal community across the Perth metropolitan area with children from birth to five years.

We provide additional support to families through targeted and intensive services, specifically designed for vulnerable families.

Our services focus on children, adolescents, young people and their families.
