About us   Grand Pacific Health is a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation.
We're here to provide our local communities in NSW and the ACT with equitable, inclusive and integrated health care including physical health and mental health care services.
We currently employ 340 people, provide services from 25 locations and are continuing to grow.
Grand Pacific Health's Queanbeyan Alcohol and Other Drugs Hub is a NSW Ministry of Health funded program designed to provide welcoming and safe services and spaces for people experiencing, or at risk of harm from alcohol and other drugs (AOD).
The Queanbeyan AOD Hub is a collaboration between Grand Pacific Health, Directions Health and Katungul Aboriginal Corporation Region Health and Community Services.
About the position The Aboriginal Health Worker will work as an important part of the Queanbeyan AOD Hub to improve health outcomes and reduce harm associated with drug and alcohol use for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
This position delivers practical support through community engagement, health promotion, identifying and addressing barriers to access and facilitating warm referrals.
This position works collaboratively with the other members of the Queanbeyan AOD team and external service providers to maximise care outcomes for consumers.
This is a part-time opportunity (37.5 hours per fortnight), fixed term until 30 June 2027 with possibility of extension.
Hours and days are negotiable We are looking for someone with: Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be an active member within the Aboriginal communities of the Queanbeyan and surrounding areas.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, and/or extensive experience in Aboriginal health, AOD, mental health, community services or social sciences.
Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people and their health (including AOD) and the ability to effectively engage and communicate to address their health needs.
Knowledge and understanding of the principles of harm minimization and recovery focused support gained through experience, education and/or training  Experience in developing and maintaining successful partnerships with Aboriginal organisations and communities.
