Job Description
WMHSAC is a dedicated Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service committed to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our focus is on providing culturally appropriate health services and promoting positive health outcomes for our community.
About the Role: We are currently seeking a qualified and motivated Aboriginal Health Practitioner (AHP) to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality health services in a supportive and culturally safe environment. The AHP will be responsible for providing primary health care services, including health assessments, screenings, and preventative health care to clients. The role will also support the development and management of patient care plans in collaboration with General Practitioners and other health professionals.
Key Responsibilities: Provide culturally appropriate primary health care services, including health screenings, immunisations, wound management, and other clinical duties. Develop and manage patient care plans in collaboration with medical staff. Promote health education and deliver health promotion activities. Assist visiting specialists and support clinical care as needed. Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines and contribute to quality improvement activities. Selection Criteria: To be considered for this position, you must meet the following essential criteria:
Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care. Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Demonstrated understanding of the clinical and social issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills for data entry and communication. Current and valid driver's license. National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain). Additional Requirements: This position is for permanent Australian residents with full working rights. Candidates requiring visa sponsorship will not be considered for this role.
