We work adaptively and with transparency to determine, prioritize, and meet the health and well-being needs of Aboriginal people in our region.OVAHS is a not-for-profit, multidisciplinary primary health care service delivering clinical, allied health and mental health throughout Kununurra and surrounding communities. We are looking for a likeminded individual to join our team of professionals, based at our office in Kununurra. About the roleProvide primary health care services to clients in the clinic and when on community and outreach visits.Ensure the focus of care is on the needs of Aboriginal clients within the context of their cultural identity and social circumstances.To work as part of the OVAHS team in providing a quality and client focused environment Please note: Due to the nature of the role, applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander as a genuine occupational qualification in accordance with section 50 (d) of the Equal Opportunity Act (1984).Essential:Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Primary Health Care by a Registered Training Organisation, current registration and Practicing Certificate as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with AHPRA and Certificate 2 in Medications.Willing to apply for a Medicare Provider number for OVAHS.Current clinical assessment skills.Knowledge and understanding of the issues pertaining to the health of Aboriginal people in rural and remote areas and commitment to the principles of Primary Health Care.Demonstrate knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.Demonstrate competent clinical practice, transferable to an Aboriginal Community Controlled PHC practice setting.Demonstrate knowledge of the Medicare Benefits Schedule and experience with billing Aboriginal Health Worker item numbers.Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and intermediate level written and computing skills.Understanding of quality improvements and risk management within practice.Ability to work independently and in a team environmentAre able to work for short periods, under extreme weather conditions when on outreach and community visits.A current National Police Clearance (within the last 30 days)An open Drivers licenseDesirable Previous experience in a primary health care facility.Training or certificates in Aboriginal Health Worker specialties e.g. chronic disease, renal, acute.What you can expect from working at OVAHS:As well as working in a positive team culture and supportive environment, OVAHS offers multiple benefits to employees, including and not limited to:Salary (Depending on skills and experience)Rental allowance - $6240 per annumAircon Subsidy included into the annual salary12-month Annual Airfare $1800 on continued service5 weeks accrued Annual leaveAn additional 10 days paid Christmas leaveSalary Sacrifice up to $30,000SuperannuationTraining and development More informationContact Derek Donohue (Practice Nurse Manager)  on 08 9166 2266 or via email ****** To applyTo apply, please submit the below documents to: ******A Cover Letter addressing each of the selection criteria (located within the attached job description)A current CV/Resume along with the names of a least two refereesA completed Application formA completed Pre-Health Employment Declaration Form
