The Role We are seeking a dedicated Aboriginal Engagement Officer – Learning & Culture to support Aboriginal students and their families, while promoting cultural awareness throughout our college community. This role is integral to improving educational outcomes for Aboriginal students by providing in-class support, tutoring, and personal mentorship. You will also contribute to the College's cultural awareness initiatives and assist in implementing our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
This is an identified Aboriginal position where applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent, identify as being Aboriginal and be accepted in the community as such. Key Responsibilities Mentor and advocate for Aboriginal students, supporting their academic, social, and cultural needs.Build strong relationships with students, families, and staff to improve student outcomes.Promote and participate in cultural awareness activities within the College.Serve as a member of the RAP Committee, contributing to the development and implementation of the College's Reconciliation Action Plan.Provide one-on-one and group tutoring to enhance literacy, numeracy, and organisational skills.About You You will identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, with a deep understanding of Indigenous education and culture.You possess strong communication, organisational, and mentoring skills, with a passion and demonstrated experience in supporting young people.You have experience working with Aboriginal students and communities, with the ability to build positive, respectful relationships.Qualifications and/or experience in Indigenous Education or related fields.
