The College is looking for a part-time Aboriginal Education Officer to support the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at the College, and develop connections with our local Aboriginal communities.

About the Role:
Varied role, providing mentoring and support to our First Nations students
Part-time, contract (2 days per week) commencing January 2025
School term time only (salary averaged in accordance with MEA)
Supportive work environment with strong focus on team and community
Salary and conditions in accordance with the NSW Catholic Independent Schools (Support Staff - Model B) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2023
The Aboriginal Education Officer is responsible for supporting the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and providing support, guidance and mentorship to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families, teachers and the wider College community and develop connections with our local Aboriginal communities. The emphasis given to these aspects of the role will vary according to the nature of priorities and activities throughout the year. The Aboriginal Education Officer works with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families to deliver effective academic outcomes and develop the profile of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and knowledge across all areas of College life.
Essential Requirements:
This is a position identified for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples
Ability to communicate effectively with school leadership to improve Aboriginal students social, wellbeing and learning outcomes
Ability to support and provide advocacy for Aboriginal students and families on issues affecting the students' social, wellbeing and/or learning needs
Ability to establish working relationships with educators to respond and relate appropriately to the social, wellbeing and learning needs of Aboriginal students
Ability to provide support and guidance to Aboriginal students in accessing support and advice from local community services and Aboriginal organisations
Child protection legislation requires the successful applicant to supply a valid Working with Children Check.
