About the RoleThis is an identified position ie this position is open to people of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.

Reporting directly to the Principal, and accountable to the Education Officer: Leader of Aboriginal Education, the Aboriginal Education Officer performs a wide range of duties. These duties may consist of (but not limited to):
Acting as an intermediary and contact person for Aboriginal students and families within the school and school system.Assisting the teaching staff in achieving targets and meeting outcomes outlined in school and diocesan strategic plans in response to the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander National Education Strategy (2015) to accelerate improvements in educational outcomes for Aboriginal students and young people.Supporting schools in ensuring that the curriculum is culturally inclusive across all Key Learning Areas (KLAs).Assisting the Principal and School Executive by providing support for Aboriginal families to resolve student pastoral care issues.Providing encouragement and emotional support for Aboriginal students.About You (Selection Criteria)We are seeking someone able to meet the following selection criteria:
Provide confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.Demonstrated understanding of and sincere commitment to the aims and philosophy of Catholic Education, including the values of social justice, equity and reconciliation.Hold an appropriate level of skill in literacy and numeracy especially as it relates to assisting students.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to cater for the needs of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students.Demonstrated knowledge of educational issues that affect Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students.Demonstrated links with the local Aboriginal community.Demonstrated ability to promote and celebrate Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander traditions and culture within the whole school.Ability to provide proof of at least 5 years workplace experience.About Our Offer Temporary, part time position (36 hours per fortnight for the duration of 2025 school year).Be paid throughout the whole year, with school holidays off.Salary packaging available.Fitness Passport available (conditions apply).Work for an organisation who is committed to fostering professional growth and provides various opportunities for ongoing training and development.How to ApplyIf you think this position sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
