Aboriginal Disability Support CoordinatorBroome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service – Broome WAThe Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service which has been caring for the Broome community for more than 45 years.
When we first opened our doors in 1978, BRAMS was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia.We deliver comprehensive, holistic and culturally responsive primary health care, social and emotional wellbeing services, and NDIS support to more than 6500 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Broome region.BRAMS takes pride in providing a friendly and supportive workplace with generous salary packaging, access to a range of leave (including study leave), and opportunities for career advancement.About the roleThe Aboriginal Disability Support Coordinator will provide individualised support to people with disability.
The Aboriginal Disability Support Coordinator helps consumers to understand what is included in their NDIS plan, supports consumers to identify goals and needed supports and to choose and connect to suitable support services.The role requires knowledge and understanding of disability services and the principles of person-centred plans, and the concept of individual choice and control.This role operates in accordance with BRAMS' Quality Care Framework, Person-Centred Care Framework, and Cultural Safety Framework, ensuring that services adhere to best practice standards.The employee will be required to participate in the development of an individual workplan which will include key result areas associated with their position, and a requirement to demonstrate appropriate behaviours which reflect a commitment to BRAMS values and strategic directions.In addition to a competitive salary of circa $80,000, you will receive a host of generous benefits as part of the BRAMS family, including:Salary-sacrificing options to maximise your earning potential and increase your take-home pay.Professional development opportunities, so you can sharpen your skills and broaden your horizons during your time with us.Additional leave entitlements including 6 weeks annual leave and 13 weeks long service leave after 7 years of service.Annual remote allowance of $1,300Study leaveAbout youTo qualify, you will need to demonstrate experience in Aged Care or Disability Services and must hold and maintain a current Australian issued Driver's License.Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:Previous experience within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Service.Certificate III in Individual Support or willingness to obtain.Proven ability to communicate and work effectively with a range of Aboriginal language and family groups.Ability and experience working collaboratively and within a team environment.Ability to support the delivery of programs to individuals and small groups.Sound verbal and written communication skills.High level integrity in maintaining community and organisational confidentiality.Demonstrated ability to function independently or as a member of a multidisciplinary team.Ability to manage a caseload and time effectively.Highly developed interpersonal skills and attributes with the ability to interact effectively in a highly responsive manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from a diverse range of cultures.Next stepsThis is a wonderful opportunity to join a growing organisation that takes pride in making a real difference in the local community.
