Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Traineeship

The mechanical and materials testing lab conducts destructive tests on a variety of samples and welded plates to ensure compliance with Australian standards. These tests include hardness testing, macro examination, tensile testing, and impact testing.

Our mechanical testing officers, technicians, managers, metallurgists, and materials engineers perform these tests. For the majority of these tests, samples must be cut, sectioned, machined, and prepared in our mechanical testing sample preparation workshop. In this workshop, our machinists and mechanical testing tradesmen use saws, lathes, and CNC milling machines to produce samples prior to testing.

We are seeking a suitable trainee to learn under supervision in using these machines while attaining tertiary education. There are several pathways available for the right candidate, including mechanical and materials testing, non-destructive testing, and inspection.
