Founded in 1964, we have a rich history and tradition, grounded in our Catholic faith and the teachings of Mary MacKillop, Australia's first saint.We pride ourselves on partnering with parents and the wider community to holistically educate girls to ensure they are empowered to be the women of tomorrow.Purpose and Scope of the RoleThe Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer provides broad support across aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student education at the College level to assist the Principal and Leadership Team, teachers and professional staff to:support student learning and Wellbeing to improve student attendance, engagement and outcomes.provide individualised support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and parents/families to improve educational outcomes through nuanced schooling, cultural and pastoral support.deepen a respectful understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and spiritualities to all members of a college/school community.Collaboration and InitiativeCollaboration and initiative are valued in this role to achieve the purpose and scope of the role. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer will work closely with key teams within the College including the College Leadership Team, the Wellbeing Team and the Diverse Learning Team, as well as the teaching and administrative staff of the College.This role is identified as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander position under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) as amended. Applicants will be invited to complete a response as confirmation of their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage. Work experience in a similar or related Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander school support role working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait students within a school environment or with a school student focus delivering culturally appropriate programs to support cultural awareness will be highly regarded. Applicants should be in possession of AQF Certificate qualification and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience supporting student education participation may be desirable.
