Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Advanced (Identified) Townsville Hospital and Health Service – Charters Towers QLD
As a member of the Cultural Assessment and Liaison Team (CALT), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing Assessment Engagement Services (A and TSI WAES) Program Area you will participate in and contribute to the delivery of a culturally sensitive and appropriate mental health care service to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients who access the Charters Towers Mental Health Service Team.

Salary range of $75,090 to $103,261 p.a. (HWF3) Annual leave with 17.5% loading 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation. The Ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural/historical issues which impact on the mental health, Drug and Alcohol and social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Demonstrated knowledge to liaise and communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, community organisations and communities. Demonstrated knowledge of working as a member of a multidisciplinary team to achieve team goals. Demonstrated knowledge of working collaboratively with other service providers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals/community groups to assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate social and emotional wellbeing and mental illness prevention programs. Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Mental Health Policy, and Mental Health Legislation. Requirements Appointment, and future increment progression, between paypoints HWF3.1 to HWF3.5 requires: Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health, or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, or Certificate IV in Mental Health, or Certificate IV in Alcohol and other Drugs. Appointment, and future increment progression, between paypoints HWF3.2 to HWF3.7, or HWF3.8 (limited to employees who meet the requirements of HED 04/23) requires: Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or Diploma of Mental Health, or Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs. Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association. This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty. Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a 'working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position. This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis. Probation period may apply. Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
