Position: Aboriginal and Islander Education OfficerBranch: Esperance Senior High SchoolDivision: Independent Public School - Goldfields Education RegionSalary: Level 3, $35.78 - $37.37 per hour (EA (Gov) GA 2023)This is a 12 month fixed term, part-time (0.7 FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2025 with possible extension.Esperance Senior High School (SHS) offers a comprehensive secondary education from Year 7 to 12 and provides a range of curriculum subject choices and exciting extracurricular activities.As an Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO), you will play a key role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families, teachers, the school, and the wider community.
You will help share knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language, and culture, fostering a deeper connection and respect within the school environment.AIEOs act as a vital liaison between the community and the school, working to create an education program that addresses both the educational and cultural needs of students.
You will provide essential mentoring and pastoral care, particularly for students at risk, ensuring their engagement and success within the school community.AIEOs also support teachers in implementing the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework.
Ideal candidates will have a strong connection to Aboriginal culture and the ability to build positive relationships with families and the local community.
