Bulleen Heights School is a Department of Education (DET) specialist school for students with autism spectrum disorder, providing exemplary educational programs for approximately 260 students aged five to eighteen years. Classes vary in size with staffing reflecting student needs. The school has two campuses: Primary School and Secondary School.
The school is situated in residential areas close to public transport and local community facilities. It provides excellent teaching programs designed to develop and extend the particular skills and strengths of each student, encouraging decision-making and risk-taking within a structured environment.
Curriculum development is based on the Victorian Curriculum, providing a framework for planning the whole school curriculum. Program delivery, using Applied Behavior Analysis teaching techniques, continues to be an option predominantly for students in our Primary School.
RoleAn education support class position at this range will perform tasks in accordance with guidelines and school policy under supervision. This may include coordination of other education support staff within the work area or educational program.
A role at this range may include:
Specific support tasks to achieve outcomes.Assisting teachers within an educational program.Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks.Technical tasks requiring a sound knowledge of basic principles.ResponsibilitiesProvides routine support for teachers including assisting with planning of student routines.Supports communication between teachers and parents.Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students.Addresses immediate behavioural presentations within a classroom setting.Provides basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students.Supports teachers in the coordination of educational programs.Provides medical intervention support to students under specific conditions.Provide 1:1 therapy to students and support them in developing their skills.Collect student data to track progress.Foster a positive environment that encourages student participation.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
