Job Description: Responsible for teaching social studies in a middle school.Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.Work with colleagues regarding content, assessment, and instruction.Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning community both inside and outside the classroom.Provide availability to students and parents for education-related purposes during and outside the instructional day. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking.The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the school day.Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, with some travel to other schools or field trip locations.
