2Nd/3Rd Level Cloud Systems Support X2 (Dc'S Vmware, Linux Etc.)

Details of the offer

My client is a market-leading Aussie software vendor who has a specialist Cloud Services function that provides Cloud support & full suite of Infrastructure, Security etc.
services for their customers across Australia.
This role is Sydney based (hybrid working model).

With demand for their services increasing, they are now looking for an experienced Cloud/Infrastructure Engineer with datacentre experience to join their team.

I am looking for candidates who have solid experience in Data Centre operations & management (this is not an Operator role) & experience in virtualised environments (VMware etc) is essential.
This role is broad & will involve managing physical & virtual environments & working with this company's private cloud tech.
Working on critical infrastructure in the datacentre, managing servers, it is essential that you have solid (i.e.
at least 2+ years' experience day in day out) experience in a similar role/environment.
Systems Admin experience (Linux RedHat, Microsoft et al.)
is similarly important.
Active Directory & Firewall experience very useful.
Any database (SQL Server, Informix, Oracle etc) experience will be well regarded.

In a nutshell your role will involve:

Technical 2nd/3rd Line Support (depending on your experience)Upgrades and Installations for existing & new clients.
Moving clients from on-premise to my clients' private cloud environment.Installing and supporting VMware productsManage hardware and asset management for data centre equipmentUpgrade and patch management of software and equipmentManage backup, endpoint protection, disaster recovery system implementation & testingSystem Admin in Linux Redhat, Windows 2012 & above, VMware (Hyper-V)Consulting internally & with external clients re new cloud implementations. Any experience with Palo Alto and/or Pure Storage would be useful although on-the-job training is available to the right candidate as long as you have some of the core Systems Admin/Data Centre Ops & Management/VMware experience.

Experience with VMware products e.g.
vCloud, vCenter, NSX, ESX would all be useful as would experience with DR & back-up tech like Rubrik, Zerto etc.
My client doesn't expect candidates to have expertise in all these areas, but is looking for someone who can work independently, is self-starting & has initiative & has the capacity & enthusiasm to learn new tech products as you go along.

In terms of certifications, then any of the below would be useful:

Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE)VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) Ideally you will have some certs but also have the on-the-job diagnostic, problem solving, solutions mindset to deal with real-life issues when they arise.

This role will involve you being on-site at 2 datacentres (Western Suburbs and City Fringe) when required.
The company offices are at Macquarie Park.
It is a flexible working model, typically meaning you will be in the office or the datacentres over 3 days and WFH for 2.
The company & culture is supportive & helpful, as long as the work is getting delivered the management team are accommodating to their team.
This is a role where once you are up & running, you will be trusted to do the job; it's NOT a micro-management environment.

The successful applicant will be joining a team of over 50 staff across 3 States, there is excellent scope for skills & professional development & long-term career growth.
There are specialist Security, Networking & DevOps teams that you will have the chance to build your skills/experience with, and the option to potentially progress into those teams in the fullness of time.
Any current Networking/Network Admin experience would be useful.

There are 2 roles available, one a classic mid-level hire looking for someone with solid skills & experience (e.g.
2-5 yrs experience) and another for someone with more experience who can play more of a technical leadership role & have a more well-rounded skill set with highly developed diagnostic/problem solving skills & also an eye for solution design if possible.
The more experienced candidate will be more involved on the client Consulting side initially whereas this is an area the mid-level candidate can grow into.

Some out of hours work will be needed as the environment needs to be available during Australian office hours so some work will be at night etc.
for which you will usually receive overtime for or time in lieu etc.
But the role will mainly be normal office hours (no shift work, on-call issues are rare etc.
).

Moreover, you will be joining a very well established, successful & privately owned (not at the mercy of the stock market) Australian Software company who have a vast array of clients across a wide range of industries & who are not reliant on one big customer or specialism.
In increasingly uncertain times, employers like this one will look increasingly attractive over time.
The opportunity for career progression is exceptional, and you can expect strong long-term career progression over time.

This is a superb role, working for a market-leader who is well established, has excellent training & career progression on offer & has the tenure of its staff to prove it.
Interested candidates should apply online ASAP or call Declan on 0451 651 486 for a confidential discussion.

Please note candidates with PR or Australian Citizenship will be preferred.
Candidates also need a driver's license and access to a car to visit my clients' Datacentres as required.
