The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation, and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. Classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their rostered teaching duties.
Range 2 Responsibilities:
- Have the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students
- Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers
- Provide expert advice about content and strategies for professional learning
- Supervise and train student teachers
- Assist staff to use student data to inform teaching approaches.
Range 1 Responsibilities:
- Develop skills to become effective classroom practitioners with structured support
- Teach a range of students/classes and be accountable for effective program delivery
- Participate in school policies and programs implementation.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual studentsContributing to curriculum development and evaluationUndertaking other teaching-related duties as determined by the School PrincipalParticipating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursionsUndertaking non-teaching supervisory dutiesWho May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
