About Monash Women's
Monash Women's Services are Victoria's largest women's health services, providing comprehensive obstetrics and gynaecology services across five sites. In 2023, Monash Health cared for nearly 10,000 births. In addition to being the local major provider of women's health services in south-east Melbourne, Monash Women's plays important subspecialist roles for greater Melbourne, regional Victoria, and interstate in such specialties as maternal-fetal medicine, fetal diagnosis and surgery, urogynaecology, gynae-oncology, advanced laparoscopic surgery, and reproductive medicine. Monash Newborn – our neonatal intensive and special care services – is the largest neonatal service in Australia. Monash Women's Services has close teaching and research partnerships with Monash University and The Ritchie Centre. We are a preferred employer of research-active clinical staff in obstetrics and gynaecology.
About the Role
As a Senior Registrar (SR), you will be providing outstanding care to our women with the close support of our consultants. In doing so, you will be consolidating your clinical skills towards successfully completing your FRANZCOG training, particularly in complex pregnancy care, tertiary birth suite management, ultrasound, and general gynaecology. You also have the opportunity to embark on a pre-subspeciality pathway with rotations available in advanced laparoscopic surgery, high-risk obstetrics, O&G ultrasound, colposcopy, urogynaecology, gynae-oncology, reproductive endocrinology, general gynaecology, and maternal-fetal medicine, or undertake advanced (higher degree) research in partnership with Monash University.
Our Obstetrics & Gynaecology Senior Registrar positions can be tailored to suit the individual needs of each successful appointee, with added flexibility in the daily roster to meet the clinical requirements and maximize each SR's training goals as the year progresses. Rotations may involve traveling between Monash Women's sites or our partnering hospitals in regional and/or private settings. All of our positions are geared towards the true generalist Obstetrics and Gynaecology advanced trainee, focusing on becoming independent in complex obstetrics care and general gynaecological procedures.
We are passionate about furthering your professional portfolio through your contribution to teaching, mentoring, and clinical governance. You will be working closely with consultants, providing you with the opportunity for structured feedback and career guidance.
