Guided by our Leadership Team, you will receive dedicated support and guidance in your role as a Learning Specialist, ensuring your success in both the classroom and your leadership responsibilities.
Your responsibilities will include actively engaging with students in the classroom for three and a half days and dedicating one and a half days to non-classroom activities. These non-classroom days present a unique opportunity for you to contribute to the professional development of our teaching staff.
Learning Specialists are active members of the School Improvement Team (SIT) and play a vital role as middle leaders at Karwan Primary School. It is imperative for Learning Specialists to align their direction with that of the Leadership Team.

Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum.
SC2 Demonstrated expertise in the implementation and modelling of high impact teaching strategies.
SC3 Demonstrated exemplary ability to model the monitoring and assessment of student learning.
SC4 Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and communication skills.
SC5 Demonstrated ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.
Role Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
Responsibilities Key roles of the Learning Specialists may include but are not limited to:
Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice. Modelling exemplary classroom practice. Working with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice. Leading and modelling the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies. Providing evidence-based feedback to teaching staff. Developing and promoting school-wide professional learning structures. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
