SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills and experience in responding to student learning needs.
SC2 Experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies and evaluating their impact on student learning growth.
SC3 Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform teaching practice.
SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and experience in establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.
SC5 Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning.
RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes while engaging in critical reflection to improve teaching practices.
Range 2 classroom teachers assist in improving student performance and contribute to the development of school policies.
They are expected to model exemplary practice and mentor other teachers.
Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing skills under guidance, managing classrooms, and teaching effectively.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students;Contributing to the development and evaluation of curriculum programs;Participating in parent/teacher meetings and other school activities;Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
