In 2025, the College adds the Year 10 cohort and commences our program planning for senior secondary options to ensure all students have excellent opportunities and outcomes after their schooling.At Greenvale Secondary College, we focus on supporting individual students wherever they are at in their learning and social development, to ensure our students can feel successful and challenged to be their best.Selection CriteriaSC1: Demonstrate capacity to take on responsibility and work independently.SC2: Excellent organisational skills and the ability to take initiative in the running of Science (Biology/Chemistry/Physics) Laboratories and Technology (Wood/Metal/Plastic/Digital) Workshops.SC3: Knowledge of laboratory and workshop first aid treatment and procedures.SC4: Knowledge and experience in the use of Technology Machinery and Equipment.SC5: Excellent communication skills, which reflect a special understanding of the relationship between the college, staff, parents, and students.SC6: Demonstrated capacity and experience with ICT including Microsoft products.ResponsibilitiesThe position has line management responsibilities to the Principal and Business Manager, however on a day to day basis is accountable to the Science and Technology Leader.Typical duties would include but not limited to:Science and Laboratory TechnicianPreparation of laboratory equipment and materials for science classes in a timely manner.Preparation of solutions, stains and media for use in the Laboratory.Provide assistance to small groups of students in regard to practical science sessions.Assist science teaching staff with demonstrations.Provide technical support to the Science Faculty.Advise science teaching staff on technical components of curriculum.Advise and assist science teaching staff in safety matters relating to the science laboratory.Assist Science Learning Area Head with ordering and purchases.Employ safe work practices in the science laboratory by applying Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.Maintain MSDS and update file for chemicals held in the Science area.Compile risk assessments on all chemicals provided for practical classes.Ensure identified risks regarding equipment, resources and facilities are reported to appropriate personnel within the science area.Maintain an inventory and provide safe storage of laboratory equipment and materials.Specialise in the cleaning of laboratory equipment and work areas.Provide safe storage and disposal of chemicals and biological residues in accordance with regulations.Service and clean simple laboratory apparatus/equipment.Develop maintenance procedures for laboratory equipment.Technology (wood/metal/digital) Workshop TechnicianPreparation of materials (wood, metal, plastics, electronics etc) for the technology classes in a timely manner.Provide assistance to small groups of students in regard to practical technology sessions.Assist Technology Learning Area Head with ordering and purchases.Maintain and employ safe work practices with the use of machinery and equipment.Ensure identified risks regarding equipment, resources and facilities are reported to appropriate personnel within the technology area.Maintain an inventory and provide safe storage of technology equipment and materials.Develop maintenance procedures for technology equipment.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.Conditions of EmploymentAll staff employed by the Department and schools have access to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements.Appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to a satisfactory pre-employment conditions check.A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment and induction and support programs provided.To apply for this role, you will be redirected to the Schools (Government) job application system.
