$70,993 - $76,403 p.a. as per Danila Dilba Enterprise Agreement 2022 - 2026Classification: Community Services / HPCS 2.1-2.4Salary Range: $70,993 - $76,403 p.a. as per Danila Dilba Enterprise Agreement 2022 - 2026This position is identified for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and section 57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT).WHO ARE WE?Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Services (DDHS) is a not-for-profit, Aboriginal community-controlled organisation that is committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) region in the Northern Territory.We are focused on acute care, immunisation, chronic disease management, women's health, men's health, child and maternal health and sexual health.Working as part of the Tackling Indigenous Smoking program, the Tobacco Action Officer's primary responsibility is to deliver smoking cessation support services and programs to Indigenous people in the Darwin Region including in clinic and outreach settings. The role will contribute to the delivery of the smoking and other Deadly Choices healthy lifestyle modules in school, academy, bush camp and other settings to young Indigenous people as well as school and community event-based health promotion and education activities.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESProgram DeliveryProvision of smoking cessation and support programs information to Indigenous people.Participate in the delivery of health promotion activities at schools and community events.Deliver health promotion and education information and activities at school and community events.Participate in influencing smoke-free households particularly in those where children reside.Assist the Communications team to deliver and develop tobacco control social marketing campaigns and communications.Influence and engage with the Tackling Indigenous Smoking National Best Practice Unit to ensure effective smoking control outcomes.Undertake training and attend workshops designed to increase the effectiveness of the Tackling Indigenous Smoking program.Collect data both in Communicare and Excel formats to inform the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Tackling Indigenous Smoking program and quit smoking behaviours.Communication and TeamworkMaintain a positive work environment along with harmonious and cooperative relationships with fellow employees, management, and clients.Ensure all interactions with clients and staff show appropriate responses to their needs and demonstrate the application of WHS code of conduct.Contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of the workplace to meet organisational objectives.Be responsible for maintaining your own professional work ethics and participate in staff meetings in a constructive manner.SELECTION CRITERIADemonstrated ability to interact and communicate with Aboriginal people from diverse backgrounds, with sensitivity to Aboriginal culture, history, and current social impacts on them.Demonstrated strong organisational skills to plan, manage and prioritise tasks and resources to deliver outcomes within time and budget considerations.Ability to work independently and in a team environment, cope with pressure and able to meet tight timelines.Sound presentation skills and confidence to speak to groups.The ability to interact and effectively engage with a range of administrative staff, medical practitioners, nurses, and other health professionals and external agencies.Demonstrated computer skills especially in the use of the Microsoft Office suite and client information systems.Proven teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to constructively negotiate outcomes with a diverse range of people and service providers.High level of personal resilience and flexibility with the ability to deal with challenging situations.Experience working in the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector.Certificate qualifications in Community Services or equivalent.Experience delivering community education and health promotion events.For further information please contact - Rhiannon Binks | Public Health Manager | 08 8942 54005 days paid leave during end-of-year shut down (additional to annual leave)Salary packaging up to $15,990 per annum, plus additional packaging options.Career development and training opportunitiesSelect "Apply now" and you will be directed to the full position description.Danila Dilba Health Service is committed to protecting the rights of children in all areas where we work.
