About the Opportunity Operating from within the Revenue Department, you will provide support in the charging of and the collection of Council rates, charges, fees, fines etc.
These positions are fixed term until 30 June 2026 and 30 September 2026 (respectively). You will be:
Assisting with ensuring the integrity of the rates system including consistency with the Queensland Valuation and Sales systemAssisting with levying and collection of Council rates and charges including debt recoveriesAssisting with completing Council's returns/remittances including Queensland Fire Levy, Rural Fire Levies, Pensioner Remissions etcUndertaking daily reconciliation of rates and charge receipts with rates debtorsAbout yourself A person in this position will need a Certificate III in Business/Finance, OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience. You will also have experience in:
Interpreting (or ability to interpret) the Local Government Act, Regulation to ensure compliance particularly with respect to rates and utility chargesKnowledge and experience utilising a range of information systems and softwareWorking as a collaborative member of a team in a diverse work environment to achieve positive outcomesEnsuring high work standards are maintained, including a strong attention to detail, a focus on continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with organisational policies and proceduresMandatory Vaccinations (or a valid and verifiable contraindication) are to be evidenced when requested by Council.

Salary Packaging Available Restructure your salary to work for you to pay for everyday living expenses such as Motor Vehicles, Superannuation, Remote Area Housing (Rent), Fuel, Gas and Electricity.

Leave Loading You will receive 17.5% leave loading on top of your base rate of pay, while you are on Annual Leave.
