2X Aged Care Engagement Officer

This position is identified for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and section 57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT). ABOUT THE ROLE The Aged Care Engagement Officer has the primary responsibility of connecting with local Elders, older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families to raise awareness of their aged care entitlements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide active community outreach to promote aged care services, identify and engage with potential clients.Support clients to identify goals and needs to ensure they get the appropriate level of care and services, which can include referrals to other specialised services and support.Support clients' aged care needs through internal referral processes.Assist clients with advocacy and support throughout the My Aged Care registration and review processes.Provide support to enable client access to appointments.Liaise with the aged care team to continuously review and enhance the role.SELECTION CRITERIA Essential Excellent and strong relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community.Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships in the community.Experience working with older people.Understanding of the internal ACCHO services available to clients.Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the aged care landscape.IN RETURN WE OFFER 6 weeks annual leave.5 days paid leave during end-of-year shut down (additional to annual leave).Salary packaging up to $15,990 per annum, plus additional packaging options.Career development and training opportunities.For further information please contact - Kellie Wright | Coordinator Elder Care Support | (08) 8942 5***
EMPLOYMENT IS SUBJECT TO Current Police Check (if older than 3 months, must be willing to undergo a new Police Check upon employment) or current NDIS Screening Check.Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) (or willingness and ability to obtain upon employment).Current driver's licence.Current First Aid & CPR certificate or the preparedness to gain this upon employment.Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or an exemption as listed on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) must be submitted.Vaccinated against Influenza, or willing to obtain upon employment.Full rights to work in Australia. #J-18808-Ljbffr
