A part-time opportunity (24 hours/week) has become available with a well-respected Catholic co-educational secondary school located at Plainland (30 minutes west of Ipswich).
The role will focus on supporting the Design and Technology (manual arts) teaching staff within a secondary school environment by ensuring that the workshop area is ready for classes, including: • Set up and maintain tools, equipment, and materials for classes.
• Ensure the workshop is clean, organised, and safe.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of machinery and tools.
• Report and arrange for repairs when needed.
• Monitor stock levels of materials such as wood, metal, and hardware supplies.
• Order new supplies when required.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
• Maintain records related to safety inspections and equipment servicing.
You should demonstrate the following skills to support your application: • Technical skills (knowledge of tools, equipment, and processes related to a manual arts environment such as woodworking, metalworking, and design – experience in the use of laser cutters and 3D printers highly desirable).
• Safety awareness (understanding of workplace safety and compliance standards) • Organizational skills (ability to manage workshop resources and maintain records) • Problem-solving skills (ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and suggest improvements) • Highly self-motivated and well-organised approach to work.
• Eligibility to obtain Working with Children Suitability Card (Blue Card).
• Experience working in a school or technical workshop is desirable but not essential.
Please note you will not be required to work directly with students; this role is focused on readying the workshop to support teachers.

We are seeking availability to work 24 hours/week during term time across the school year (excluding school holidays).
There is some flexibility with how these hours are rostered and the remuneration will be based on $33.17 plus superannuation and entitlements.
