Role Description:
As an establishing business, we are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Farm Manager to join us. This position combines coordination, supervision, and practical hands-on farming applications. The Vegetable Farm Manager will oversee day-to-day operations on the farm, including managing crop production, soil health, irrigation, equipment arrangements and maintenance, weeds and pest management. The role requires leadership and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications & Experience:
Farm Management and Agriculture experience Irrigation Knowledge Experience working on farms and with different vegetables & perennial crops Fruit trees grafting and orchard management experience is a plus Excellent communication and leadership skills Ability to work and lead in a team environment A qualification in Agronomy/Horticulture - Bachelor of Agriculture Science or equivalent is desirable but not essential. Must have accommodation and travel arrangements Supervisory and coordination skills Hold a current driver's license Hold a current agricultural chemical user permit (essential) Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare and implement detailed crop production plans, including variety selection, planting schedules, and field location assignments to optimise yield and quality. Monitor soil health and manage fertilization plans to ensure optimum growth conditions for vegetables (cauliflower, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers & broccoli). Identify and control pest and disease threats through integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, minimising chemical use. Design and manage irrigation schedules and systems to conserve water and ensure adequate water supply to the crops. Oversee and coordinate the harvesting process to ensure produce is picked at optimal maturity, maintaining quality and reducing post-harvest losses. Implement quality control measures at all stages of production, from seed selection to post-harvest handling, to meet or exceed industry standards. Lead, train, and supervise farm staff and seasonal workers, promoting a safe, efficient, and positive work environment. Prepare and manage the farm budget, including costs related to seeds, supplies, labour, and equipment. Maintain inventory records of supplies and harvested produce. Apply sustainable farming practices that enhance biodiversity, reduce environmental impact, and maintain soil health. Continuously put efforts for the farm's business growth and improvements. Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to support market engagement strategies, including direct sales to consumers, participation in farmers' markets, and supply to retailers. Have a clear understanding of the company's business growth plan and strategically work towards achieving the business goals. Salary:
