Central Highlands Regional Council is currently seeking an experienced Rural Land Officer to join us on a 12-month term to assist with leave backfill.
In this role you will be responsible for matters related to stock routes within the Council region in accordance with Stock Route Management Act 2002. You will undertake pest plant and animal control measures in accordance with relevant legislative requirements while ensuring compliance and enforcement with other relevant legislation and council's local laws and policies. You will also review and implement reports and plans directly related to all aspects of Rural land roles.
At request, you will provide support to the Ranger services team as organisational needs may require.
In this busy role, you will support the organisation by: Assisting the Coordinator Ranger Services with the successful delivery of the full range of rural responsibilities in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures (including complying with council's customer service charter), while maintaining a strong customer focus.Understanding, interpreting, administering and complying with relevant legislation and council policies applicable to the functions within a local government Ranger and Rural services unit (plant & animal pest and stock route management).Producing high standard reports, correspondence and advice to internal and external clients relevant to disciplines within the unit. Where opportunities arise, preparing applications related to available grant funding for pest management and other related funding opportunities.Monitoring and maintaining all stock route related matters in the region in accordance with legislative requirements and managing miners common in accordance with Fossicking Regulation 2009 related to cattle agistment.Tending to all aspects of pest plant and animal management within the region related to the role, establishing and maintaining a pest mapping tool. Liaising with Infrastructure and Utilities, Parks and Gardens teams in relation to weed spraying to ensure collaboration. This pest management may include the management of Road Maintenance & Performance Contract (RMPC) funded spraying throughout the region.To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:
A minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers licence.Relevant qualifications related to the position responsibilities or willingness to undertake training to become competent in relevant disciplines required within the Rural Services role.Willingness to undertake training for permits/approvals for ACDC unrestricted licence, 1080 operators' licence, Firearms licence & First Aid.Comprehensive skills in the operation of Microsoft Office applications.Previous experience in a similar capacity; or similar role, including pest animal control, pest plant control, behaviour and safe handling management of livestock, First Aid, firearms handling and safety, investigating breaches, issuing fines & court appearances.If this sounds like you, apply now!
