Work Health and Safety Officer Parliament of Victoria – Department of Parliamentary Services Ongoing, full-time opportunity PoV Grade 4, $92,332 - $104,762 The Parliamentary Administration Act 2005 and the Parliamentary Officers (Non-Executive Staff – Victoria) Single Enterprise Agreement will be revised during 2024. It is anticipated that the revised salary range for Grade 4 will be $95,102 - $107,905.
About the role The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Officer plays a key role in building a strong safety culture at Parliament of Victoria, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and best practices. Reporting to the Manager of Work Health and Safety, this role involves all aspects of incident management, risk reduction, and emergency planning. You will collaborate with various employee groups to improve WHS initiatives and promote safety standards, ergonomics, and overall workplace wellbeing.
How you will make a difference With your passion for raising awareness on safety matters, you will implement WHS Strategies by assisting stakeholders across the Parliamentary Precinct, hybrid workspaces and the 128 electorate offices located across Victoria, to apply safety measures to create a safer environment for all staff and visitors. You will use your attention to detail to oversee incident management and risk mitigation involving systems and audits to identify and address hazards, reducing risks and preventing accidents. In striving to deliver timely customer service, you will ensure WHS best practices by providing accurate and appropriate advice to support compliance and continuous safety improvement across departments. About you You are committed to continuous improvement with a strong understanding of WHS legislation. You have experience managing WHS services and systems, such as incident reporting and risk management. You are an excellent communicator with stakeholder management skills, essential for building meaningful relationships to foster a culture of safety. You possess proficiency in technology and handling administrative tasks such as managing incident management systems and reporting. You hold certifications or qualifications in Work Health and Safety (desirable). We offer flexible work arrangements.
