About the Role As a Therapeutic Youth Worker, you will provide direct support, care and mentorship to Children and Young People aged 12-17 years residing in our homes in the Wollongong region. The Children & Young People we care for have experienced childhood trauma, abuse or neglect and may have a mental health, physical or psychosocial disability.We are currently seeking resilient problem solvers, who can adapt to an ever-changing environment and be a strong advocate for the young people you support. Positions are available on a Permanent & Casual basis. Key Responsibilities Meet the day to day needs of children and young people and working within the legislative requirements and LWB initiatives, such as We Put Children FirstFacilitate activities that connect the child or young person with their family, community and cultureSupport the child or young person to participate in school, vocational training or employmentEffectively advocate the views of the young peopleSupporting children and young people to develop and maintain positive family and kinship relations.Participate in team meetings, reflective practice and supervision, debriefing and various support activitiesWorking within the scope of each child & young person individual plan to support them to achieve their identified goals. Maintaining high quality record keeping and documentationSkills & ExperiencePossess a relevant Diploma or bachelor's degree level qualification ORIdentify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and have relevant work history related to role ORHave relevant work history and are willing to complete a Diploma of Child, Youth & Family Intervention offered by LWB (at no cost to you!) ORHave relevant work history and are currently completing a relevant Diploma or bachelor's degree qualificationA current Provide First Aid (HLTAID003 or HLTAID011) & CPR (HLTAID001 or HLTAID009) Certificate/sA current NSW unrestricted Drivers LicenceThe ability to form and maintain professional, nurturing relationships with Children & Young PeopleWillingness to assist with activities of daily living, including personal care where neededAvailability to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster (including weekend and night shifts)Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and NSW Working with Children Check. To be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
