The Opportunity The Technical Services team forms part of Council's Operations Directorate which provides essential infrastructure and services to the Burnie community. The team works collaboratively with stakeholders right across the organisation and its purpose is to deliver outstanding results and best value outcomes for the community and the environment through quality and innovative engineering design services and advice.
The Role The Technical Lead Operations primary focus is to undertake engineering assessments and effectively coordinate necessary resources for the provision of quality technical advice and development assessment services in respect to Council infrastructure. This includes representing Council to assess, support and oversee new subdivisions and other major developments in the municipality for these functions.
The role also provides high level planning, management and customer service related to Council's transport and stormwater networks.
About You You will be self-motivated and lead by example in a changing workplace to deliver outcomes for the community in line with Council's 'Making a Better Burnie 2044' Strategic Plan. You will be highly organised and able to manage and prioritise multiple concurrent and complex activities.
You're not afraid to challenge the status quo and you're prepared to think differently to pursue continuous improvements in safety, quality, cost and technical excellence. This will be achieved using your combined experience in civil engineering and knowledge of local government infrastructure.
Effective communication will be a personal strength and you will have the ability to relate to people from all walks of life. Utilising your relationship management skills, you will mentor and support other employees to grow the depth and breadth of their existing skills, sharing your technical expertise, engineering knowledge and experiences to build a stronger Technical Services work group.
